Honeymoon in Hawaii!

The night we arrived in Hawaii, we got up at 3:00 in the morning to bike down Mt. Haleakala.

Here is a picture of the sunrise at the top of the volcano.

The elevation at this point was a little over 10,000 feet, and the temperature was well below freezing!
The two of us about halfway down the volcano.
And finally, the bike ride ended up on the beach!

We stayed at the Westin Maui, an absolutely amazing hotel

Here are some pictures from around the hotel lobby.

This is the lobby of the hotel. The entire first floor was open-air so that everyone could enjoy the wonderful Hawaiian breezes.
These two pictures show the wonderful pond and waterfall in the middle of the hotel from a few different angles.
And of course, this is Kelly getting her picture made in the lobby.

Here are a few pictures from around the pool area at the hotel.

This picture shows the water activities that were available - volleyball, Tiki Bar and (if you look close) a waterslide.
This is one of the pools. If you were to walk through this waterfall, you would find yourself located in a cavern with a hot-tub in what the hotel called 'The Grotto'. You could continue walking through the cavern and...
...find yourself walking through this waterfall into yet another pool.

The hotel lobby was home to many animals. Here are a few pictures for your enjoyment.

Here is Adam feeding the ducks that call this pond their home. The hotel hosted a feeding time for the guests and of course we had to get in on the action.
These flamingos were also constant fixtures at the pond during our stay.

(If you look closely at the water you can also see the giant Koi that inhabited the pond as well.)
Here are two of the three parrots that would also frequent the lobby.  These two were always together, but they weren't too social.
This is the third parrot and he truly enjoyed the human touch.  If someone came up to his perch, he would slide down and walk to the edge of his ledge to let you pet him.  This is a picture of Kelly doing just that.

This is a picture of one of the many wonderful beaches on the islands.

We hope to be adding more pictures to this section so please check back soon!

This is a picture of the beach from out hotel on Maui.  In the far distance you can see some rocks jutting out from the cliff.  We rented snorkel gear during our trip and this was one of the places that we snorkeled.  Adam got to see a giant sea turtle here!
